Russian Textiles; Printed Cloth for the Bazaars of Central Asia, by Susan Miller
A beautiful vintage coffee table book filled with the most gorgeous printed-cotton fabrics created and manufactured in Russia from about 1860-1960 specifically for export to Central Asia. Virtually all of the textiles in this book are from the author's collection, and are being reproduced here for the first time.
The countries of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan- once known collectively as Russian Turkestan- are areas of strategic importance and vast natural resources; they also represent and extremely rich cultural heritage, much of it centered around the unique textiles traditions of the region.
Inside this book is a beautiful world waiting to be explored and treasured by artists; fashion, interior, or product designers; crafters; and anyone with a love of extraordinary visual design.
